A 23-year-old man from Givatayim was arrested on Saturday night following a physical confrontation with security personnel at a political rally in Tel Aviv.
The incident occurred as former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke at an event demanding the creation of a commission of inquiry into the events of October 7, 2023.
Police said the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and attempted to breach the security perimeter surrounding Bennett. Witnesses reported that he shouted the slogan “Only Bibi,” a phrase used to support current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while pressing toward the stage.
Guards instructed the man to back away, but he continued to approach the detail. After one guard pushed him back, the man turned and shoved the officer in return.
Security staff subdued the suspect and held him at the scene until police arrived. Officers then took the man to a local station for questioning. An initial check revealed he had no prior criminal record.
The rally took place days before the 2026 Knesset elections, with Israeli Defense Forces soldiers having already cast ballots at military polling stations earlier in the week.
