Ukraine says satellite speeds restored to full capacity after slowdown
Kyiv reports Starlink and Starshield connections operating above 400 km/h following days of reduced speeds.

Satellite links used by Ukraine's military are back at full speed, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on 24 October, after several days of reduced connectivity along parts of the front line. He said restrictions on the systems were lifted by the morning.
Zelenskyy said speeds began recovering overnight and reached the level needed for military work by daybreak. "Starlink and Starshield are back to operating at the speeds they were capable of before these restrictions were imposed. Now we have the speed we need," he said in a video address. He linked the recovery to frontline logistics and to defending against jet-powered Shahed drones.
Before his statement, Ukraine's defence forces and Ministry of Defence experts recorded both systems running above 161 km/h. The Ministry of Defence later confirmed speeds above 400 km/h with a stable connection.
The slowdown had affected several sectors along the line of contact, where speeds fell to between 130 and 161 km/h. Zelenskyy said at the time that this hampered logistics and limited Ukraine's ability to deploy drones.
On 16 October, US President Donald Trump said the White House had not taken part in limiting Ukraine's use of the systems. The Telegraph separately reported that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had raised the idea of restricting bandwidth on the networks used by the Ukrainian military with Trump.
