Ticket pricing for major stadium tours has become a point of contention among fans in recent years, often leading to public pushback against inflated costs. Sam Fender has now adjusted the pricing structure for his upcoming Proper Massive tour following such a reaction.
The 32-year-old musician initially announced the tour earlier this week, but the pricing revealed for the Wembley Stadium date quickly drew attention. A user named Gavin Davis posted the standing ticket options on Instagram, showing a front standing zone priced at 130.75 pounds and a standard standing zone at 98.85 pounds. Seated tickets for the same show ranged from 64.75 pounds to 130.75 pounds.
Fender responded directly to the post, stating that he was not satisfied with the figures presented. He explained that the prices had risen beyond his original intentions. The artist specified that any cost increase should strictly cover the expenses of staging the production. He argued that the additional amount should not serve as a profit margin for ticketing partners.
The singer also targeted the physical layout of the standing areas. He described the division into front and back tiers as bollocks. Fender confirmed that this specific setup would not be used for his shows. He expressed confusion over how such a system became a standard practice in live music and decided to remove it from his event structure.
The high prices were not limited to the London venue. Other cities on the tour also listed standing tickets above 100 pounds. In Newcastle, the highest price reached 112.90 pounds. Cardiff listed its top tickets at 119 pounds, while Manchester’s top price was 119.60 pounds. Edinburgh had the highest price point in the UK lineup at 120.95 pounds.
General ticket sales for the tour are set to begin on Friday, with a presale opening on Wednesday morning. The tour will run across the summer of 2027. Fender is scheduled to perform at several major stadiums, including St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
Fender is one of several artists who have recently addressed the cost of live music. In August, Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson posted a TikTok video agreeing with fans that her Bangkok tickets were very expensive. She said she wanted to be more involved in the pricing process. Larsson noted that many people wanted to attend her shows but were deterred by the financial barrier.
Alongside the tour news, Fender confirmed that a fourth studio album is currently in production. He has not yet revealed the title or cover art for the project. The release follows the critical and commercial success of his 2025 album People Watching, which won a Mercury Prize.
The singer has built a career with hits like Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under. He has won five Brit Awards. Earlier this year, he collaborated with Olivia Dean on a duet version of the single Rein Me In. The track won the 2026 Brit Award for song of the year. It also spent 23 weeks at number one on the singles chart, making it the longest running number one single in British history.
